



Events of the First International Conference on Remote Sensing Applications and Space Sciences in Hurghada
Mrs. Professor Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, Head of the Electronics Research Institute, participated in the activities of the First International Conference on Remote Sensing Applications and Space Sciences in Hurghada during the period from December 8-11, 2022, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and in the presence of both Major General Ahmed Marzouk, the Secretary. Assistant General of the Red Sea Governorate, Colonel/Mohamed Abdel Hakim, Deputy Military Advisor of the Red Sea Governorate, and Professor Dr. Amr Hamouda, Head of the National Institute of Marine Sciences and Fisheries. The conference was chaired by Dr. Muhammad Bayoumi Zahran, Chairman of the Authority, and Dr. Sherine gave a speech at the opening of the conference that included visions and the latest research developments reached by electronics research, and the prospects for current and future cooperation with the various sectors in the country, including the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences.
In her speech, Her Excellency also stressed the Institute’s constant endeavor to disseminate research and modern technologies in various fields and its constant work to create a new culture of creativity and development, working to raise awareness of the importance of localizing electronics industry technology in Egypt, and creating generations of creators and inventors to contribute strongly to putting Egypt on the map. Globalization of this huge industry and making it a regional center in implementation of Egypt’s Vision 2030, and the strategy, vision and mission of the Institute.
In her speech, she touched on the cooperation protocols and joint research projects that were implemented, as well as the current projects with the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, scientific research, products, prototypes and intellectual property rights that were registered as a result of this fruitful cooperation between the two sides. Examples of this cooperation were given, including: smart agriculture, satellites, radar, antennas, and other various areas of cooperation of common interest between the two sides. She concluded her speech by saying that the Electronics Research Institute has distinguished research cadres distributed among seven scientific departments, in addition to many specialized and central laboratories that include the latest devices and equipment in the Middle East, which strongly qualifies the Institute to take a leading position in implementing any research projects in various fields, including: image processing, Cloud computing, artificial intelligence applications, printed electronic circuits,….. An exhibition was also held on the sidelines of the conference that included the institute’s products and prototypes through the Taiko office.
