Conclusion of the Second Session Activities of The Annual International Forum for Post-Graduate Students Abroad
The activities of the second session of the annual international forum for graduate students abroad under the title "Prosthetic and orthotic technologies and mobility aids", which lasted for two days under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Academy of Scientific Research and the Institute of Electronics Research.
The events began with the speech of Dr. Shirin Abdul-Qadir Muharram, President of the Forum, during which she thanked the sponsors of the Forum and the attendees, and also indicated that Egypt is witnessing a remarkable progress in the field of supporting and empowering handicaps, and that the Forum aims to combine academic experience and manufacturing and international expertise to prepare specialized technical cadres to meet the needs of society in that field.
Major General Muhammad Ali Metwally, Deputy Director of the Department of Technical Research and Development of the Armed Forces, delivered a speech during which he stressed the importance of the Forum and its role, in light of the Egyptian state's interest in promoting local technologies for prosthetic limbs, orthotic devices and movement aids.
Major General Dr. Eid Mahmoud Al-Taweel, Advisor to the Minister of Defense for Medical Education and Orthotic Devices, stressed the keenness of the General Command of the Armed Forces to cooperate with all concerned authorities to provide all facilities for people with special capabilities, stressing the importance of the issue of the forum and the efforts made by the State in this field.
In his speech, Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, praised the success of the Forum, stressing the state's interest in establishing an integrated system of high-level medical services for citizens with mobility disabilities on a sound scientific basis.
The current session of the Forum included 22 lectures with a number of international and local companies, and 17 lectures for researchers from various countries. More than 500 researchers from around the world were registered, and researchers from various Egyptian universities participated also.
The forum highlighted the challenges facing the field of prosthetic devices and movement aids and how to overcome them, and concluded with many recommendations aimed at supporting the prosthetic limb system, orthotic devices and movement aids.
