ERI Organizes 39th National Radio Science Conference
The activities of the Thirty-Ninth National Conference on Radio Science kicked off yesterday, Tuesday, organized by the Electronics Research Institute, headed by Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, President of the Institute and Honorary President of the Conference, during the period from November 29 to December 1, 2022, in the presence of a distinguished group of researchers and scientists inside and outside Egypt, and a group of Pioneers and symbols of radio science in Egypt, under the auspices of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology.Dr. Sherine indicated that the conference is being held under the chairmanship of Dr. Saeed Al-Khami, emeritus at the Faculty of Engineering, Alexandria University, and Chairman of the National Committee for Radio Science, Dr. Esmat Abdel-Fattah, former President of the Electronics Research Institute, Dr. Ahmed Attia, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee of the Institute, pointing out that the conference is held at the Institute’s headquarters, The Radio Science Conference is one of the most important, largest and oldest annual conferences organized by the National Committee for Radio Science at the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology under the scientific umbrella of the International Union for Radio Sciences, as well as the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. The President of the Electronics Research Institute added that the importance of this conference comes within the framework of holding seminars for scientific research accepted for publication in the field of electronics and communications engineering, which includes technical challenges facing researchers, while reviewing the latest advanced technologies and emerging technologies in these fields.
Dr. Sherine explained that the institute provided the appropriate environment for this important event and provided logistical support for the conference, as the local committee of the institute designed and launched a website for the conference, as well as organizing the reception and management of the conference articles and printing volumes and research summaries booklet, and preparing the halls required for the events, and the institute participated in supporting the awards presented for the best scientific research, in addition to organizing an exhibition of the research outputs of the Electronics Research Institute, and some products of the companies supporting the conference.
For his part, Dr. Saeed Al-Khami explained that 37 research papers were accepted in various fields, including 16 research papers for developing and refining measurement and analysis techniques in antenna design and applications, 13 research papers for designing effective radio communication systems and signal processing, and 8 research papers in the field of electronic devices and circuits and optical systems.
Al-Khami added that, in light of the conference’s annual tradition of expressing appreciation and gratitude to the exceptional scientists and researchers who contributed to research progress in radio sciences in Egypt, 3 pioneers in radio sciences were honored this year: Dr. Mahmoud Abdel Halim, former head of the Electronics Research Institute, and Dr. Hadia. El-Hennawy, Emeritus Professor at Ain Shams University, and the late Dr. Mazhar Bassiouni Tayel, Emeritus Professor at Alexandria University.
It is worth noting that the scientific program of the conference includes the participation of a group of prominent experts in the academic and industrial circles who introduce new innovations in the fields of millimeter wave antennas and modeling, unified deep learning, continuous learning, time domain simulation for microelectronics, and the global road map for the microelectronics industry, and they are Dr. Abdel Razek Plumber, Dr. Mustafa Saeed Al-Khami, Dr. Atef El-Sherbiny, and Dr. Albrecht Mozar. The program also includes five reference articles by members of the National Radio Science Committee covering aspects of advanced communication technologies, as well as a workshop for young researchers including seven research papers for graduate students participating in the conference; To put forward and discuss their initial research ideas with experts. It should be noted that all the research that will be discussed during the conference will be listed on the most prominent global search engines in the field; IEEE Xplore for distinguished scientific publishing, and to encourage our scientists and young researchers, five awards will be distributed for the best research presented at the conference, provided that three of them are young people, and prizes will also be presented for the best research participating in the youth workshop, where their research ideas and their latest findings will be presented. As well as discussing them; To enrich their research and support the idea of the importance of scientific research to them, without burdening them with any financial burden.
