The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research chairs the meeting of the Electronics Research Institute
The Board of Directors of the Electronics Research Institute held a meeting headed by Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in the presence of Dr. Yasser Refaat, Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Mahmoud Saqr, President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Dr. Walid Al-Zawawi, Secretary of the Council of Research Centers, Institutes and Bodies, Dr. Sherine Abdel-Qader Muharram, Acting President of the Institute, and members of the Board of Directors, at the Institute’s headquarters in Nozha.
At the beginning of the meeting, the minister praised the developments and achievements that took place in the new headquarters of the Electronics Research Institute, and in the Science and Technology City for Electronics Research and Industry of the Institute (STPERI), noting that the current period is witnessing a tangible interest from the political leadership in scientific research in Egypt. With the aim of bringing about positive change in all fields in line with the development plans in Egypt.
The minister affirmed the state's keenness to overcome all obstacles facing researchers and innovators, pointing to the importance of the role played by the institute, centers, institutes and other research bodies, and what it can offer to serve the Egyptian society.
For her part, Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader reviewed the development work at the Institute and the follow-up to the implementation of the strategic plan 2020-2030, pointing to the most important activities, events and achievements of the Institute during the past period, including: scientific visits, cooperation protocols, and activities that have been implemented.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the new construction work in the new headquarters of the Institute in Nozha, as well as follow-up to the construction of the clean room, a project that was designed to be a nucleus for the advancement of the electronics industry in the Middle East, as well as a qualitative shift in the institute’s strategy towards linking with the industry, and establishing laboratories And semi-industrial lines whose outputs can be applied in the electronics and sensors industry, as these outputs represent one of the components of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which is one of the most important pillars of sustainable development globally.
The meeting also discussed a number of topics related to the affairs of members of the research body at the Electronics Research Institute, such as promotions, appointments and secondments.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Dr. Hisham El-Deeb honored the former head of the Electronics Research Institute, praising his distinguished efforts during his tenure as head of the Institute, and his setting of future frameworks for the establishment of the Science and Technology City to be a valley of science valleys in the field of research and electronics.
