The conclusion of the activities of the first Ramadan session for institutes, centers and research bodies
On Wednesday 20 April 2022, the activities of the first Ramadan five-a-side football session for research institutes, centers and bodies, organized by the Electronics Research Institute, were concluded during the period from 11-20 April on the Five-a-side Stadium at the Petroleum Research Institute, under the patronage of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The results of the course resulted in the Metals Research Institute winning the first place, the National Research Center winning the second place, the Petroleum Research Institute winning the third place, and Theodor Bilharz Institute winning fourth place.
During the ceremony honoring the winning teams, Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader, President of the Electronics Research Institute, said that this course comes within the framework of the interest that the Ministry gives to recreational and sports activities at the level of research institutes, centers and bodies under the auspices of Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, in addition to the role of these activities in consolidating communication relations between employees of research bodies and institutes, and enhancing means of cooperation between them. Abdel-Qader indicated that the course received distinguished media attention and wide participation from research centers and institutes, as the number of teams participating in the course reached ten, stressing that the final match was characterized by excitement and suspense, and the two teams competed to seize the victory until the end of the match, and the referee participated in the match referee International Captain Samir Othman.
On his part, Dr. Yasser Mustafa, Director of the Petroleum Research Institute, the importance of the course in that it reflects the degree of interdependence between research centers and institutes, pointing to the importance of sports in our lives, and that it is no less important than the research aspect, praising the sportsmanship of all participating teams.It is worth noting that the first Ramadan five-a-side football tournament for research institutes and centers was launched with the participation of ten teams, which were divided into two groups. While the second group included (the Academy of Scientific Research, the National Institute of Measurement and Calibration, the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries, the Institute of Metallurgy Research, and Theodor Bilharz Research Institute).The group stage competitions ended with the National Research Center taking first place in the first group competitions with 12 points, while the Petroleum Research Institute came in second place with a total of 9 points, and in the second group the Metallurgical Research Institute ranked first with 8 points, with a goal difference from Theodor Bilharz Institute who came in second place.
