



Visit the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones
Reviewed by Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, presented a report by Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, Head of the Electronics Research Institute, regarding the agreement concluded by the Institute with the General Authority for Investment and Regions under the supervision of Mr. Magdy Al-Nabrawy, Head of the Business Development Sector at the Authority; With the aim of cooperation in a number of fields, including: entrepreneurship, startup companies, and initial feasibility studies for those companies.
The report indicated that the cooperation between the two parties comes in implementation of the state’s strategic plan, and the interest in developing the scientific research system in Egypt. With the aim of creating an attractive climate for Egyptian and foreign investments based on applied research, and in line with the Ministry’s strategic plan, which aims to adapt the outcomes of scientific research; With the aim of developing the industrial sector and building strategic partnerships between the various sectors of the country to contribute to the development of the national economy. The report also explained that the cooperation of the Electronics Research Institute with the General Authority for Investment and Regions comes within the framework of the Institute’s keenness to develop its resources, invest in its technological outputs and assets, and expand into industries with added value and a high technological component.
The report added that the cooperation between the two parties came after conducting a number of mutual visits through holding training courses on the map of investment opportunities, as well as entrepreneurship for a number of members of the Institute’s research staff at the Authority’s headquarters.
Dr. stated. Sherine said that the first training session included an explanation of the concept of the investment map and its work methodology, along with displaying models of it on the investment map’s website, in addition to a detailed explanation of how to prepare and create the investment opportunity, and the value chains for a specific product, with an explanation of how the initial feasibility study is conducted and its importance in creating the investment opportunity. In addition to training members of the research staff on the idea of targeting and promoting investment opportunities, and holding seminars on the resources available within the Electronics Research Institute and how to provide investment opportunities for them.
The second training course also included definitions of entrepreneurship, its environment, customers, their segments, and how to analyze them. Training was also given on preparing the initial feasibility study for startup companies and the procedures for establishing these companies, in addition to presenting the methodology and methods of design thinking and how to build a business model, with an explanation of the concept of Financial management and the importance of financing for startups.
