



ERI receives the Japanese Ambassador to discuss supporting and consolidating ways of joint cooperation
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of international research and scientific cooperation between universities, institutes and research centers in Egypt and international higher education institutions, noting that this represents one of the most important pillars of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, which aims to improve the quality of higher education and scientific research. In this context, the Electronics Research Institute, headed by Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, received Ambassador Oka Hiroshi, the Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, and his accompanying delegation. To discuss ways to enhance joint cooperation between the Institute, educational institutions and scientific cities in Japan, at the Institute’s headquarters in New Nozha.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Sherine Muharram stressed the Institute’s keenness to enhance cooperation with the Japanese side in various common fields, noting that the Institute possesses a huge infrastructure and technology, expertise and distinguished human cadres, which makes it an ideal partner for cooperation with Japanese institutions.
Dr. Sherine Muharram pointed out the Institute’s interest in such visits that contribute to linking the Institute with international universities, which has a significant impact on exchanging scientific and research experiences, and developing the capabilities and skills of the Institute’s research cadres.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed areas of joint cooperation, especially in the fields of electronics, communications, information technology, and energy. Possibilities of cooperation in the field of scientific research and exchange of experiences between the institute and Japanese research institutions were also discussed, as well as investment opportunities and exchange of experiences in the management and operation of the scientific city and the clean room. ; To manufacture microelectronics at the institute and emphasize their vital role in promoting scientific research and innovation in Egypt.
For his part, the Japanese Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Oka Hiroshi, expressed his happiness at the visit to the Electronics Research Institute, stressing the Japanese side’s interest in enhancing cooperation with Egypt in various fields, especially in the field of scientific research and technology, praising the support given by the Egyptian state to developing the higher education and scientific research system. In Egypt, as well as the level of development witnessed by the Electronics Research Institute and its existing capabilities, which qualify it to become a leading institute in the field of electronics, communications, information technology and energy industries in the region, stressing that the institute is a distinguished model of cooperation between the two countries in areas of common interest.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Japanese ambassador and his accompanying delegation inspected some semi-industrial outputs and products at the institute’s exhibition, as well as various central laboratories, including the printed electronic circuits manufacturing laboratory, the specific absorption rate measurement laboratory, the virtual and augmented reality laboratory, the millimeter wave circuits manufacturing and measurement laboratory, and the X materials analysis laboratory. -ray diffraction SAXS, and the buildings of the Institute’s Scientific City, as well as the headquarters of the technological incubator “Tariq” supported by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology. He also met with a number of emerging companies at the Institute and the city, and listened to an explanation from representatives of those companies about their work and future plans.
It is noteworthy that the Electronics Research Institute is one of the most important scientific research and development centers in Egypt in the field of electronics, information technology and energy, and it plays a pivotal role in supporting economic and social development, through developing new technologies, supporting emerging companies, spreading awareness and developing skills for the country’s various sectors.
