Sponsored by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research,The Electronics Research Institute participates in the activities of the second national consultative dialogue of the National Council for Economic Development Under the patronage of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Electronics Research Institute, headed by Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, participated in the activities of the second national consultative dialogue of the National Council for Economic Development (CJED). An overview of the concept of the Smart Specialization Strategy (S3) and its role in promoting economic growth, which It was organized by the Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) in cooperation with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, the National Institute of Metrology and Calibration, the National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, and the City of Scientific Research and Technological Applications.
Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram explained that the Institute participated in a consultative dialogue entitled “Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence and their Role in Promoting Economic Growth,” during which the challenges facing the African continent in the areas of digital transformation were discussed, and the successful and pioneering experiences of the Electronics Research Institute in the digital transformation sector were presented, noting. The Institute received many awards, including the best green smart building, the best website, in addition to the Government Excellence Award, and many other awards in the field of innovation.
Dr. Bassem Ibrahim, a researcher in the Computers and Systems Department at the Institute, also gave a lecture on emerging trends in big data analysis using artificial intelligence tools and techniques available at the Electronics Research Institute.
On the sidelines of the consultative dialogue activities, a delegation from African countries made an inspection visit to the Electronics Research Institute, accompanied by Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, during which she presented the laboratories and research products present within the Institute, and the mechanisms of the Institute’s support for entrepreneurship and emerging companies, through a group of programs and activities, including incubators. Business, as the Institute owns two technological incubators, (Tariq Incubator and Green Electrobikeia Incubator), to provide technical and financial support to emerging companies in the field of electronics and information technology. The Institute also organizes a group of specialized training programs in the field of electronics and information technology, which target entrepreneurs and emerging companies, This is in addition to the Institute’s participation in many local and international conferences and events, and contributes to introducing entrepreneurs and startup companies to the opportunities available to them, and exchanging experiences with other parties, stressing that these programs and activities aim to support the system of entrepreneurship and startup companies in Egypt, and provide the appropriate environment. For its growth and prosperity.
The head of the Electronics Research Institute also pointed to the opportunities for cooperation and joint investment between Egypt and African countries, stressing the importance of partnership between African countries. To exchange experiences between the two parties, and expressed its welcome to provide all aspects of cooperation to African countries to contribute to building the capabilities of the countries of the African continent. To meet challenges and promote economic integration and sustainable development in Africa in the Institute’s areas of specialization.
The delegation praised the visit, which provided them with an opportunity to interact with Egyptian researchers and experts in the advanced fields of fifth generation (5G) networks, the Internet of Things, 3D printing, and nanotechnology, stressing that these emerging technologies will contribute significantly to the social and economic development of the countries of the African continent, which is in line with With the objectives of the Digital Transformation Strategy for Africa (2020-2030), the Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa (STISA-2024), and Agenda 2063.
