Project Title | Pilot Plant of Photovoltaic Battery Diesel Generator Hybrid Power System |
Project PI | Dr. Doaa Attia |
Project Abstract |
Egypt is a large country with an area of 1 million km2 . It is a relatively rich and rapidly developing country and so demand for electricity is growing on average at around 5% annually. Applications of solar energy in Egypt have been growing since 1960. However, effective utilization of solar energy in Egypt has not yet made reasonable progress mainly due to several obstacles. Hybrid energy systems are designed to provide reliable on-grid systems capable of net metering or off-grid power for homes, farms, and small businesses that want to conserve energy and reduce their utility cost. A hybrid system that combines solar technologies and Diesel generators offers several advantages over just a standalone solar system, since the hybrid system is capable of producing a consistent stable power supply in all types of weather. Because the peak operating times for solar occur at different times of the day and year, hybrid systems are more likely to produce power when it is need. The project will include rural electrification and development, the system sizing will also be done. Power management, control and implementation of the system will be carried out. 2. Project innovation Providing the customer of renewable energy with a real prototypes of PVDG hybrid system. |
Project Objectives | Providing the user of new and renewable energy with the real model of a hybrid system of solar energy and diesel generators |
Project Deliverables | The project gives a real prototype of PVDG hybrid system application using in rural electrification. |
Project Beneficaries | -Supplying the remote areas isolated from the electrical network with the necessary energy |
