ERI is ranked 35th out of 378 centers and bodies in the Second Edition
Higher Education: The Electronics Research Institute is ranked 35th out of 378 centers and bodies in the Second Edition of Research Centers in the Middle East and North Africa (SEMAGO) rankings for the year 2023.
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced the results of the second edition of the Spanish Cimago classification (SCImago), as a new classification for research centers in the Middle East and North Africa region for the year 2023, in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Cimago and Elsevier institutions.
For her part, Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, President of the Electronics Research Institute and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Science and Technology City for Electronics Research and Industry, indicated that the Institute ranked 35th in the Semago classification of research centers in the Middle East and North Africa for the year 2023 at the level of the classification as a whole out of 378 centers and bodies in the Middle East. and North Africa, up two places from the 2022 rankings.
Dr. Sherine Muharram referred to the performance indicators of the Electronics Research Institute in the Semago classification for scientific and research publishing, where the Institute obtained (411.9) in the index of the number of leadership researches, an increase of 35.9% over last year, and the number of excellence researches (89), an increase of 89.3% over last year, and the number of Research published in the most influential scientific journals (Q1) 169, an increase of 60.9% over last year, while the Institute obtained (871), an increase of 19.4% over last year in the number of papers found on the Scopus database, and the Institute obtained (106) an increase 3% compared to last year in the number of regional cooperation research, and in the indicator of the number of published research by the institution compared to the number of researchers, the Institute obtained (299), an increase of 4% compared to 2022.
The Institute also advanced in the index of the number of patent citations (citations) by 21, an increase of 600% over the previous year. The number of available Open Access publications also reached (332), an increase of 88.6% over the year 2022, and the reference measurements (40), an increase of 48.1% over the year. The past and incoming links (152), an increase of 15.1% over the year 2022, and the number of research papers involved in the sustainable development goals (175), an increase of 5.4% over the year 2022.
In the website size index, the Institute achieved the position (966), advancing 542 places over the year 2022, and in the knowledge index, the Institute achieved the position (15), advancing 9 places over last year, and the number of international cooperation research reached 298, an increase of 8.7% over the year 2022.
Dr. Sherine Muharram explained that the progress achieved by the Institute this year is due to the efforts being made in the field of scientific research, as the Institute focuses on advanced technology areas, such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality, in addition to areas of sustainable development, such as renewable energy and smart cities. The Institute also seeks to increase international cooperation with research institutions in other countries, in order to exchange experiences and knowledge, pointing out that the Institute’s advancement in the ranking in the Semago classification this year is an important achievement for the Institute, and reflects its position as a leading research institute in the Arab region, and the result of a clear implementation plan. It has been developed, worked on, and provided with all possibilities to reach the international level, in addition to developing the quality and quality of scientific research published internationally in terms of quantity and quality.
