The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research reviews a report on the activities of the Electronics Research Institute
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, reviewed a report submitted by Dr. Sherine Mohamed Abdel Qader, Acting President of the Electronics Research Institute, on activating the cooperation protocol signed with the South Korean Development Institute; With the aim of developing a proposal for a strategic plan to operate the Science and Technology City for Electronics Research and Industry (STPERI), affiliated with the Electronics Research Institute, as the first scientific and technological city specialized in electronics research and industry in Egypt.
The report indicated that the strategy proposal is divided into three main axes: assessing the current situation and capabilities of the Electronics Research Institute in particular and the Arab Republic of Egypt in general, designing the functional frameworks for the proposal to operate the scientific city and setting performance indicators for it, and developing a proposal for the implementation of the strategy (short, medium and long) Term).

Sherine Abdel Qader held a joint workshop between the Egyptian and Korean sides, via video conference technology, over two days, where Dr. Yasser Refaat, Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Hisham Farouk, Assistant Minister for Digital Transformation, and Dr. The former electronics and science city board member, elite public figures and decision makers from the industry and ICT sector, and from the Korean side, the former Minister of Trade and Industry, the CEO of the Korea Development Institute, and a group of professors from Henbat University participated.
The activities of the second day included a presentation by the Korean side of a number of lectures; For the purpose of transferring Korean technological expertise in this field.
On the other hand, the report indicated that the Institute organized a number of workshops between researchers and experts from various sides; With the aim of linking scientific research with industry and production bodies, the Institute organized a workshop entitled “Advanced Driving Assistance Systems”, in the presence of a group of professors, researchers and experts from the Institute, and Valeo Company in the Arab Republic of Egypt, which is one of the competitive international companies in the field of developing advanced driving assistance systems For self-driving cars.
The report stressed that the technology of advanced driving assistance systems is an important topic in the field of self-driving cars, as these systems work to control internal and external sensors that help modern cars to move, avoid obstacles and park without any human intervention, and some of these technologies have been applied in Many countries such as America, China and some European countries.
The workshop, which was delivered by Dr. Mohamed Hanafi Radwan, Senior Software Engineer in the Advanced Driving Assistance Systems Department at Valeo, addressed the introduction of self-driving car systems and their importance, products and challenges in the Egyptian and global market, and also discussed the importance of the fifth generation of wireless mobile phones to connect the communication of self-driving cars to each other. The workshop also touched on many ideas that serve as research points for the members of the research body and their assistants, which would address some of the current problems related to the field of car automation software.
