ERI signs a contract to host a startup company with the Rnker application
Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, stressed the importance of achieving the principles of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research, which supports the transformation of educational and research institutions into innovative institutions that contribute to attracting distinguished cadres and support building a knowledge-based economy.
In this context, the Electronics Research Institute signed a contract to host a startup company between the institute and the owner of the Rnker application, as the first contract to be signed in the Institute of Science and Technology City for Electronics Research and Industry in the field of electronic sports technology.
Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, head of the Electronics Research Institute, stated that the signing of the contract to host the startup came in implementation of the institute’s strategic plan, one of the goals of which is to make the Science City a stimulating and supportive environment for excellence in scientific research, thus establishing comprehensive societal development and the production of new knowledge that achieves international leadership, noting that the city It aims to provide all means of awareness, support and protection for research, studies and experiments to develop applications of modern technologies and inventions from intellectual and industrial property rights in the field of electronics, communications and information technology for emerging companies and those working in the field.
Sherine also confirmed that this cooperation comes as a continuation of the implementation of the cooperation protocol with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. In order to achieve the principle of integration with the Ministry’s national strategy, the protocol aimed to use augmented and virtual reality technologies in qualifying and training individual game players and technical training for young people in the field of entrepreneurship and technological incubators, explaining that the electronic application Ranker is based on calculating the current and future sports classification and predicting the draw for international tournaments based on Classification in some sports, such as taekwondo and others, using artificial intelligence technology, through an electronic application that contains a collected database of players, coaches, referees, and various sports federations.
She pointed out that the owner of the application has created electronic sports games aimed at predicting the winning players in various tournaments, which contributes to the analysis, organization and development of Egyptian sports and the transition to the so-called digital sports industry.
Sherine added that, according to this contract, the application will be sponsored by the Science and Technology City for electronics research and manufacturing, and will provide logistical, technical, administrative and legal services for the application, noting that it was agreed that the launch event for the application will be held at the Institute’s Science City headquarters, stressing that the city opens its arms to embrace and host pioneers. Businesses and emerging companies in the institute’s field of specialization and providing ways to support them.
For his part, Engineer Mohamed Al-Sargany from Vodafone Egypt, owner of the electronic application Ranker, praised the City of Science and Technology’s support for the electronics research and industry for the application, and providing technical, administrative and legal advice to it, as well as contributing to protecting the application through the establishment of the digital technology company to manage, analyze and classify sports games “Ranker”. for digital technology.
Al-Sargani pointed out that the free version of the application is used in more than 80% of the countries registered with the International Taekwondo Federation, and it was used by Egyptian champions Hedaya Malak and Saif Issa at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, where they won two medals for Egypt, and it was also used by many champions of other countries, where He contributed to winning 38 Olympic and world medals.
It is worth noting that the institute’s work team providing administrative and legal advice for the application includes Mustafa Metwally from the Legal Department, Basma Mamdouh and Ahmed Mostafa from the City’s Incubator and Hosting Services Department, and Ahmed Youssef from the Human Resources Department.
