Obtaining the first place award in the Innovative Government Initiative category at the Egypt Award for Government Excellence in its third session
DR. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, congratulates the Electronics Research Institute for obtaining first place in the “Innovative Government Initiative” category of the Egypt Award for Government Excellence in its third session, the awards ceremony of which was organized yesterday, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and in the presence of Dr. Mostafa Madbouly. Prime Minister, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Planning and Economic Development, and Maryam Al-Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the UAE Council of Ministers, with the participation of a number of ministers, governors, university presidents, ambassadors, members of parliaments, and judicial bodies. For her part, Dr. Sherine Abdel Qader Muharram, Head of the Electronics Research Institute, thanked the Minister for his continued support for all research canters, institutes and bodies, noting that the Institute won first place in the “Innovative Government Initiative” category in the “Energy Saving Device with Artificial Intelligence” project, for the work team consisting of Dr. Amir Yass Hassan, researcher in the High Energy and Energy Conversion Department at the Institute, and Dr. Taha Ahmed Anani of the Holding Company for Silos and Storage. The award was received by Dr. M/ Amir Yassin.The idea of the device is based on reducing the periods of ineffective operation of equipment in production lines, and thus saving electrical energy using artificial intelligence techniques. The device performs real-time monitoring and then automatically starts and disconnects the motors.The consumption of periods of ineffective operation in grain storage silos was calculated, which amounted to approximately 10% of the energy consumption during them, and the idea of the proposed device was presented to the Holding Company for Silos and Storage through Dr. Taha Ahmed Anani, as the company supported the idea and welcomed the initial implementation of the device in many of the Silo and Storage Holding Company’s sites throughout the Republic. It is worth noting that the amount of savings with the device depends on the type of industry and the nature of the periods of ineffective operation in it, and the idea of the innovative device can be applied in Many different industries such as: ceramic factories, cement factory silos, etc., and the device can be developed and applied in factories and production lines to reduce periods of ineffective operation and save energy.It is worth noting that the initial idea and prototype of the device before development won the Innovation Award from the Sixth Cairo International Innovation Exhibition in 2019.
