Ministry of Education's Education Development Committee is exploring cooperation with ERI Science Park in training and entrepreneurship
As part of strengthening institutional partnerships and developing technical and technological training programs in accordance with international standards, a high-level delegation from the Education Development Fund, affiliated with the Cabinet, accompanied by representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), conducted a field visit to the Electronics Research Institute and the Science and Technology City for Electronics and Information Technology Research and Manufacturing. The delegation discussed areas of joint cooperation in the fields of technology training and entrepreneurship.
The delegation was headed by Dr. Rasha Saad Sharaf, Secretary General of the Education Development Fund, and included Dr. Ito Hisashi, Technical Advisor for Mechatronics at JICA; Miyaki Chiho, Japanese Coordinator for the Japanese-Egyptian Cosen Project; and Dr. Maha Salah El-Din, Project Coordinator and International Relations Officer at the Fund. They were received by Dr. Sherine Mohamed Abdel Qader Moharam, President of the Electronics Research Institute and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Science and Technology City; and Dr. Mahmoud Salem, Supervisor of the Institute's Training Committee.
Dr. Rasha Saad Sharaf, Secretary-General of the Education Development Fund, stated that the visit included an inspection tour of the central laboratories and buildings of the Science and Technology City, where researchers reviewed the institute's capabilities and research plans. The delegation also viewed a number of successful startup models hosted by the institute. In a press release issued by the Fund, she added that the visit comes within the context of the Fund's efforts to develop technical and vocational training paths within the Japanese "Kozen" colleges and 21st Century Skills Centers, by leveraging the advanced research capabilities and technological incubators of the Electronics Research Institute. She emphasized her aspiration for joint cooperation with the Electronics Research Institute and the Science and Technology City in the fields of information technology, robotics, and artificial intelligence. This will contribute to building qualified human capabilities to compete in the local and international labor market and creating a stimulating environment for entrepreneurship that supports innovation and knowledge production, as part of the entrepreneurship component of the Japanese-Egyptian Kozen project. Sharaf explained that the importance of using the institute's laboratories as incubators for innovative projects for students at the "Kozen" colleges and trainees at the 21st Century Skills Centers, as well as supporting emerging companies in modern technology specializations, comes in line with the state's vision to promote a knowledge-based economy. This step is part of the Education Development Fund's strategy to integrate the roles of academic and research institutions on the one hand, and the needs of the labor market on the other, to build an integrated technical education system based on quality, innovation, and sustainable development.
