ERI Participates in Arab Forum on Environmental Sustainability
As part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen Arab scientific cooperation and exchange expertise in the fields of scientific research, technology, and innovation, the Electronics Research Institute (ERI) participated in the Arab Forum entitled “Capacity Building for the Use of Renewable Energy to Improve Air Quality, Enhance Health Surveillance, and Ensure the Sustainable Treatment of Medical and Hazardous Waste in Arab Countries.” The forum was organized by the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) in cooperation with the Research Center for Semiconductor Technology for Energetics (CRTSE), Algeria, on 12–13 July 2026.
The forum brought together a distinguished group of experts, researchers, and academics from several Arab countries, including Egypt, Algeria, Palestine, Lebanon, Jordan, Yemen, Iraq, Libya, and Mauritania, reflecting its importance as a regional platform for exchanging expertise and presenting the latest practices and innovations in renewable energy, air quality, sustainable waste management, and environmental development.
ERI was represented by Prof. Dr. Sherine Mohamed Abdelkader Mohram, President of the Electronics Research Institute and Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Science and Technology City for Electronics Research and Industry. She participated as a keynote speaker in the third session, titled “Smart Technologies and Innovation in the Service of Environment and Health,” where she delivered a lecture entitled “Smart Monitoring and Modern Technologies for Achieving Sustainability in Electronic Waste Management.”
During the session, Dr. Mohram presented ERI’s vision for employing smart technologies and advanced digital systems to support the sustainable management of electronic waste. She emphasized the importance of integrating scientific research with advanced technological applications to develop innovative solutions that reduce environmental impacts, enhance the efficiency of monitoring and follow-up systems, support the transition toward a green economy, and contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
She also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation among Arab research institutions, exchanging successful experiences and expertise, and integrating efforts to develop innovative technological solutions capable of addressing environmental challenges and reinforcing the role of scientific research in supporting sustainable development and serving Arab societies.
This participation reflects ERI’s commitment to utilizing its research expertise to support priority environmental issues, promote knowledge and technology transfer, and develop innovative solutions that contribute to achieving sustainable development goals, thereby enhancing the role of scientific research in serving society and supporting Egypt’s position within the Arab scientific cooperation framework.
